We’re a small crew, and we mean that as a point of pride. Every tech who shows up at your gate in Houston carries the Cedarwell standard: written price before work starts, shoe covers and drop cloths inside, and a cleanup photo before we leave. Cody Beckman, Owner, keeps the team lean on purpose. He’d rather have four people who know gate hardware cold than a dozen who read from a script. Here’s who you’ll actually meet when you call Latch and Post Gate Repair Houston.
Styles & brands we work with

Our People
Cody Beckman, Owner and Lead Technician
Cody founded Latch and Post Gate Repair Houston in 2009, building the business around a simple observation: a gate is only as good as the latch that holds it and the post that carries it. He still runs service calls five days a week, which means the guy quoting your repair is often the same guy turning the wrench. He’s factory-trained on LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, Linear, Viking, Ghost Controls, DoorKing, Elite, and Mighty Mule. This morning he replaced a Viking F-1 gate arm over in Westchase and admitted it took him twenty minutes longer than it should have, because the previous installer had buried the control wiring in concrete without conduit. He’ll tell you that story if you ask. He’s the one on the phone after 6 p.m., and he still answers with his name.
Marcus D., Senior Installer
Marcus has been hanging gates since before he had a driver’s license, starting summers on his uncle’s fence crew in Port Arthur. He joined the Cedarwell family six years ago and now leads most of our new installation work across Harris County. His specialty is getting heavy ornamental gates to swing true on uneven Houston clay, which he says is more about patience than brute force. Marcus keeps a laser level in the truck and a spiral notebook in the glovebox where he sketches site layouts before he ever starts digging. He’s the one who prefers podcasts about Texas history while he works, and he can tell you which neighborhoods in Heights were platted before the 1900s.
Lena R., Service Coordinator
Lena is the voice you’ll hear when you call (361) 256-5955 on a Tuesday afternoon or a holiday weekend. She has worked dispatch for Houston trades businesses for nine years and has a standing rule: nobody hangs up without knowing exactly what happens next. If your gate opener failed at 7 a.m. and the kids are stuck in the driveway, Lena is the one who tells you what time a technician is rolling and what to expect on the price before anyone arrives. She tracks every job on a whiteboard the old-fashioned way, color-coded by rush status. She also keeps a stash of dog treats in her desk for the customer homes with protective dogs, because a calm dog makes for a faster, safer service visit.
Tommy A., Apprentice Technician
Tommy came to us from Lone Star College’s welding program, where he learned more about steel than he ever expected to use in residential gate work. He’s eighteen months into his apprenticeship and already runs solo calls for basic latch replacements and hinge work. Cody pairs him with Marcus on bigger installations, and Tommy is the one who ends up in the crawl space with the remote wiring when the rest of us don’t fit. He’s quiet until you ask about welding, and then he’ll talk your ear off about penetration depth. Tommy grew up in Pasadena and still lives there, which means he knows exactly what salt air does to gate hardware near the ship channel and why we stock stainless fasteners on the truck.
One Standard, Every Job
Every member of the Houston crew works under the same Cedarwell Care Promise, and we don’t treat that like a poster on a wall. Clean up like it’s our own home. Ask before we move or touch anything. Respect the family’s time and quiet hours. Explain the price before the work. Each tech gets reminded of those four lines at the start of every week, and Cody says anyone who can’t remember them doesn’t belong on a Houston jobsite. The 365-Day Done Right Promise backs every repair and every installation. If it isn’t done right, Latch and Post makes it right. No argument, no fine print. That promise belongs to the whole crew, not just the owner, and it’s the reason we lay drop cloths on the floor and put on shoe covers before we step inside. Your floors stay clean. Your gate works. That’s the job.
